The Friends of Sandwich Infant School (F.O.S.I.S) are a group of parents that help the school provide the many extras that enrich school life. It is the Friends' mission to help enhance the children's experience in school.
The aim of the Friends is to raise funds for the school, we do this by running various fundraisers throughout the year such as sponsored bounce, Easter Raffle, Christmas gifts designed by the children and the Summer Fair.
Our fundraising pays for events such as Christmas presents, Cinema etc. We have also provided games, books, and Interactive panels for the classrooms and party treats. The Friends have also provided money towards school trips. We believe the children all really benefit from the money raised and always enjoy the events we run.
The major fundraiser is the Summer Fair, that has a long standing tradition of the school and includes a May Pole Dance performed by Year 2 (see the History page for old photos). The event is well supported by the school and parents as well as by the local community. It is a fun day for the whole family and we can raise up to £2000.00!
We also run a Book Club throughout the year, where the children can choose a book and then save up for it over a number of weeks. The books are generally not expensive, so saving up for them does not take too long. This promotes a measure of independence and an understanding of the concepts of saving.
We are always pleased to welcome new faces so please don't hesitate to get involved! We also make sure we have a lot of fun along the way and drink alot of tea and coffee! The meetings are very informal and younger children are always welcome.
If you are interested in either helping on the day of any event, or becoming a "Friend": please find us in the playground; drop into one of our informal committee meetings or contact the school office: 01304 612228
